CEBUANO STUDIES CENTER TUGKAD JOURNAL GOES LIVE

The University of San Carlos Cebuano Studies Center in cooperation with the Department of Communications, Linguistics and Literature went live with its second online volume of Tugkad: A Literary and Cultural Studies Journal on July 28, 2022.

Tugkad: A Literary and Cultural Studies Journal is a peer reviewed open access online international journal. This year’s issue features eleven scholarly articles and its creative arm, Lamdaman, showcases creative works, interviews, and literary translations. The contributors to Tugkad are Genesis Bedio, Bejay Bolivar, Oscar Guinto Jr., Denis Judilla, Bea Martinez Lastimosa, Radel Paredes, Charles Dominic Sanchez, and Dagmar Inez Uy. Contributions to Lamdaman include poetry by Cesar Ruiz Aquino and Noli Manaig. The creative section also features an article by Lawrence Lacambra-Ypil, an interview with Dr. Amosa Velez and literary translations into English by Aireen Sylvette Dayao and Kaila Jewels Cajelo of selected Cebuano stories.

The public launch took place during the Center’s monthly Vicente Sotto Lecture Series on July 30, 2022. The lecture on “Sex Lives of Ancient Visayans and Colonial Voyeurism, Conquest and Penetration” was delivered by Mr. Joselito “Boboi” Costas from 10:00-12:00 PM via Zoom. The event was streamed live on Facebook.
