Last big literary event of the year

Creative writers, literature teachers and students, and literature enthusiasts of Cebu are invited to the Taboan 2016 Cebu at 1-5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec.8 at the Robinson’s Galleria Cebu.
Entrance is free.
Taboan 2016 Cebu will pay tribute to Dr. Erlinda K. Alburo for her contribution to Cebuano arts, letters and culture.
A conversation on writing Cebuano in the 21st century with Lorenzo “Insoy” Niñal, Jona Baranzuela Bering and Januar E. Yap, moderated by Ms Joanalyn Gabales, is also one of the highlights.
Taboan 2016 Cebu will also feature performance poetry from members of creative writing groups MAD, the Women in Literary Arts-Cebu, Inc. (WILA), Bathalan-ong Halad sa Dagang (BATHALAD), and University of the Philippines Cebu’s Tinta.
Taboan is a national event initiated by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) with the vision of bringing together writers from the regions.
Taboan 2016 Cebu is a satellite activity organized by the Cebuano Studies Center of the University of San Carlos, in cooperation with Robinson’s Galleria Cebu and Mga Anak sa Dagang (MAD).
Other Taboan satellites were in Laoag City, Manila, Quezon Iriga and Naga Cities, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, and Iligan City.
Taboan’s theme this years is “Pagbinayloay (Exchange)”, emphasizing the event’s role of facilitating the exchange of ideas and works of creative writers in the country, according to Dr. Hope Sabanpan-Yu, literary arts coordinator for Region VII in the NCCA.
