1872 Cebu politico-military governor Francisco Izquierdo signs a decree giving Ogtong the status of a pueblo (town) independent of Bantayan. Henceforth, Ogtong came to be known as Santa Fe. 1916 General elections are held for representatives to the newly-established Philippine Legislature composed of the Senate and the House of Representative.
