Sergio Osmeña Sr. was born in Cebu on September 9, 1898. He studied at Seminario Colegio de San Carlos in 1889; took up law at the University of Sto. Tomas. He was a publisher of El Nuevo Dia and passed the bar in 1903.

He became the Governor of Cebu (1906), Assemblyman (1907), Senate President Protempore, Vice-President, President of the Philippines. He spent most of his youth in Boletin de Cebu and Manila’s El Comercio.

He was a Freelance journalist with Aguinaldo during the war with America.

He died on October 19, 1961.
