THE University of San Carlos’ Cebuano Studies Center (CSC) will celebrate Cebu Arts Month with an event titled “Dalit CSC” on Saturday, August 12, 2023. The event will start at 1:30 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. It will be held at University of the Philippines-Cebu Cinematheque in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

“Dalit CSC” will showcase the documentary “Linda Faigao-Hall: Playwriting East and West” by Trizer Dale Mansueto. She is also the founder of the Cornelio Faigao D & P Writing Workshop. Another documentary, “Lab Teatro sa Panahon ng Pandemya” by Lor Aireen Viernes, will highlight the best practices of dramatic and performing arts learning during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, featuring playwright-director and educator Emmanuel Jones Mante. Both documentaries were implemented under the auspices of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

The event’s main highlight is the launch of several books initiated by the Cebuano Studies Center, including “That Black God: Stories” by the late Gumercindo Rafanan, “Nature and its Persuasions: Critical Essays” by Hope Sabanpan-Yu, “The Stories of Lolo Berto” by Lamberto Ceballos, “Pre-War Cebuano Writers” by Mari-Rose Lapad and Hope Sabanpan-Yu, and “South of the City: Tales from Carcar” edited by Hope Sabanpan-Yu.
